Nations of the World - 응답하라 1990s

One of the videos I like to show during our 5th and 6th grade classes is from an old animated TV show I really like watching as a kid. The show is called Animaniacs.
It's a fun little show with fun characters. These characters like to sing songs to help you remember some facts about the US and the world. One character, Yakko, sang a song about the "Nations of the World". Some of you might remember this song. Enjoy!

Even though I show you this video a lot. It's actually not up-to-date. That means that some of the information was true in the 1990s but is not true today.

Would you be able to find out what is wrong with the songs lyrics or the map in the video?

Here's another video that helps, but is not entirely correct either.

Let me know in the comments if you can help make this song right. What is wrong and what should we change.

One last video of the original, but using movies. Just for fun.

Welcome Students!!!

Hello Class!!

New students and old students! Welcome to Mr. J's website.

I started this website to document my teaching in Korea for teachers and people who are thinking about coming to teach abroad. I changed my mind about that.

I am changing this website to help you students learn more. To take the learning and the fun times we have in our classroom outside into the real world.

I will be posting some of my powerpoint (ppt) here so you can download, share and do them by yourselves. Don't worry I will have the rules and instructions for you all to follow, or change them to make it YOUR game and enjoy with your friends.

(Warning: some ppts are not my original work but I will give credit if I am able to.)

I will be posting videos and we can have a chat here in the comments if you want to. I want you to learn in any way you think is helpful to you.

This is not homework. This is for fun. Fun for me, and fun for you too I hope. I don't want you to think that these are assignments to force you to learn, but I want you to think of them as personal projects to start getting your mind thinking and using your imaginations and knowledge.

English is scary. I know. Learning a new language is hard. I know, too. I want to show you that learning is not as scary as you think it is. Learning can be fun! It can take away stress, and not give you stress.

My favorite word in class is "TRY". Try your best, and keep trying. We learn from making mistakes and getting things wrong. It's okay to be wrong sometimes. You didn't get it wrong, you just learned a new way it wasn't right.

"It is better to fail 100 times and keep trying than to give up after 1 failed attempt."

So go out! Make mistakes, be wrong. But don't give up on trying to find the right answers.

I hope that we can take learning English out of the classroom and into your life every day.

P.S.
Welcome students from 양벌초등학교, 수원동신초등학교, and 영덕초등학교. I hope you are well. Sorry I cannot keep in touch with most of you, this might be the best way to reach me.
